Medical Staff Credentialing Coordinator (Franklin, LA)
PRIMARY FUNCTION
:
To oversee the credentialing and re-credentialing of healthcare providers. This role ensures that all medical staff meet regulatory, accreditation, and healthcare standards.
- The Credentialing Coordinator reports directly to Director of Quality.
- The Credentialing Coordinator also works closely with the entire Medical Staff, Department Managers, and all other employees of the hospital.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Maintains confidential credential files on all members of the medical staff, including current staff status, current licensure and other certifications and current clinical privileges in accordance with JCAHO, HCFA and state regulations.
- Manages and maintains provider credentialing and re-credentialing processes.
- Coordinates the credentialing appointment and reappointment processes and obtains necessary data for each applicant.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date credentialing records and databases.
- Communicates with providers to obtain necessary documentation.
- Prepares and submits credentialing applications and supporting materials.
- Monitors expiring credentials and facilitates timely renewals.
- Resolves credentialing discrepancies and responds to inquiries.
- Coordinates internal and external audits related to credentialing.
- Stays informed about changes in healthcare laws and credentialing standards.
- Responsible for attendance at medical staff committee meetings.
- Collects annual active medical staff dues.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) certification (preferred)
- At least 2 years of experience in medical credentialing in a healthcare facility
- Experience with credentialing software systems
- Strong understanding of Joint Commission and other regulatory standards
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
