Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
  • Under supervision of pharmacist, review and comply with Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, ensuring correct entry, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and assisting pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and Quality Improvement Program.
  • Adhere to Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register, handle cash, assist customers in OTC aisle when possible.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party program prescription services, perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist pharmacy department on inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods.
  • Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinate clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
  • Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, and outreach to health groups.
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance of Pharmacy Department ensuring adequate supplies, cleanliness, neatness, and orderly appearance.
  • Maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through designated training program and/or state required certification. PTCB certification required for promotion to senior technician.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager and acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills to accurately fill prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.

Salary
Salary Range: $17.5 - $21 / Hourly Benefits

The actual compensation that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors including geography, skills, education, experience and other relevant factors.
