As a Peer Support Specialist you'll assist participants in crafting treatment plans, maintain open communication with referral sources, engage in staffing for seamless continuity of care, provide crisis intervention when necessary, and promote recovery and resilience. No prior experience is necessary – we provide on-the-job training!

Support, encourage, and model recovery and resilience specific to each individual's needs.

Provide individual or group services with a rehabilitation and recovery focus.

Help individuals manage psychiatric symptoms, utilize natural supports, and enhance community living.
* Foster Community and Connections:
Encourage clients to connect with others and their communities.

Assist individuals in making independent choices and taking an active role in their treatment.

Help individuals identify personal strengths and resources to aid in their recovery.

Support clients in setting and achieving their recovery goals.
** Education and/or Experience

Qualifications:

*** Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
* Complete a state-approved training program and, if required, pass a standardized examination
** Employment Requirements:
*** Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect and fingerprint check.
* Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
* All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
* Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
* Must be 21 years of age or older
* Minimum one (1) year of recovery
* Within the first year of employment, receive training on:  + Signs and symptoms of disability related illnesses  + Working with families and caretaker of clients receiving services  + Rights, roles, and responsibilities of client and families  + Client self-help skills  + Individual treatment plans  + Basic principle of assessment  + Special needs and characteristics  + Philosophy of community support approach  + Suicide awareness/precaution  + Quality assurance  + Infection control  + Philosophy, values, and objectives of CPRC  + Behavioral management/crisis intervention  + Issues/involuntary hold
