Job Overview

Psychologist – Additional Position (Health Facility – Clinical – Safety) at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero. This is a limited term/temporary appointment for current State civil service employees.

• Complete Admission Psychological Assessment (APA) for patients to delineate and clarify psychiatric and psychological diagnoses.
• Conduct intellectual and cognitive assessments of patients when clinically indicated.
• Conduct psychological assessments.
• Create and monitor behavioral interventions.
• Provide timely feedback to patients, results of psychological assessments and evaluations, and complete appropriate documentation.

• May require periodic work behind the Secured Treatment Area (STA).
• Limited term; expires on 9/28/2026 but can be ended at any time.

• Classification:
  Psychologist (Health Facility – Clinical – Safety) (9873).
• Minimum salary $62.36–$76.57 per hour for new to state candidates.
• Current CA Board of Psychology license; provide copy prior to hire.
• Pass drug screening, background investigation, and medical clearance.

Additional benefits will not be provided due to this being a secondary position.
