JOB SUMMARY

The Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Technician and Medical Assistant is responsible for administering TMS therapy to patients under the supervision of a licensed physician or psychiatrist. This role involves preparing patients for treatment, operating the TMS device in accordance with established protocols, monitoring patient response during sessions, and maintaining accurate, HIPAA‑compliant documentation. The TMS Technician ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the treatment process while providing a supportive and compassionate environment.

The technician may also assist with the administration of Spravato and the collection of vital signs (blood pressure and pulse oximetry).

This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to work independently in a clinical setting. Additional duties include patient lead follow up, and assisting the physician with submitting prior authorizations for TMS, Spravato, and routine medication prescriptions.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Schedule TMS appointments and verify insurance authorizations
  • Administer TMS treatments following established protocols
  • Administer Spravato following established protocols under physician/NP supervision
  • Explain procedures, risks, side effects, and answer patient questions
  • Provide compassionate, supportive care during sessions
  • Document session notes and help patients complete mood rating scales
  • Collaborate with TMS psychiatrists and clinic director on patient progress
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and clear communication
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR) proficiently
  • Experience treating anxiety, depression, or medication‑resistant conditions preferred
  • Strong interest in TMS and Spravato therapies preferred
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to exceptional, evidence‑based, high‑quality care
  • May participate in community outreach efforts
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) and at least one year in a patient care/mental health office setting, or
  • HS Diploma or Associate's degree and at least 2 years in a patient care/mental health office setting
  • At least one year Medical Assistant or Mental/Behavioral Health experience preferred
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • EHR software knowledge
  • Knowledge of marketplace insurance payers & medical necessity guidelines are highly preferred, but not required, for this position

  • Basic Life Support Certification:
    Valid BCLS Certification from AHA or ARC (Highly preferred)
  • Successful completion of TMS certification based on initial training provided.

This position will primarily work out of the Waynesville, Missouri clinic, but may require travel to other clinics in the region as needed. Normal business hours are M-F 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; however, we may occasionally need availability from 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (with techs working 8‑hour shifts within that 12‑hour window). Our hours of operation are flexible and vary depending on our patients' needs, including occasional weekends.
