Accredited Pharmacy Technician - Retail Pharmacy

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as a Retail Pharmacy Technician. This role involves managing both prescription and over‑the‑counter medication inventory, assisting customers, and supporting pharmacy operations with a focus on accuracy and customer service.

As a Retail Pharmacy Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining medication inventory, processing prescriptions, answering customer inquiries, and supporting daily pharmacy functions. Your role is vital in ensuring patients receive the correct medications promptly and with care.

• Respond promptly and courteously to customer requests for medication or information.
• Participate in pharmacy improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Stock and organize vials, caps, bags, and over‑the‑counter shelves, ensuring cleanliness and order.
• Utilize computer systems to input prescriptions, add new patients, process refills, and provide price checks.
• Order, sticker, and restock over‑the‑counter medications and special order items.
• Accurately count, label, and verify medications, including performing National Drug Code (NDC) checks.
• Communicate with physician offices to obtain refill authorizations and new prescriptions.
• Perform basic pharmacy calculations and use reference materials efficiently.
• Answer telephone calls courteously within three rings and assist customers with over‑the‑counter purchases.
• Conduct monthly inspections to identify and remove outdated items.
• Complete all required annual education and training.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

One year of pharmacy experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred. Candidates must be registered or have applied for registration prior to starting.

This position requires considerable mental focus. Standing and walking, including stair use, will be necessary for approximately half of the shift. Light lifting up to 25 pounds is also required.

The majority of the workday is spent in the pharmacy area, with occasional rounds to patient care units. Expect a work environment with printer and telephone noise.
