Role Description

The Optometric Technician/Receptionist is a full‑time, on‐site role based in Parkville, MO. This position supports both clinical and front desk operations, including greeting patients, managing check‑in and check‑out, answering phones, and scheduling appointments. Daily responsibilities include pre‑testing patients, gathering medical and vision history, assisting the optometrist during exams, and explaining basic procedures or next steps in care. The role also includes maintaining patient records, processing payments, verifying insurance information, and coordinating eyewear orders.

The Optometric Technician/Receptionist contributes to a positive, efficient office environment by providing friendly, accurate, and timely support to patients and team members.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a patient‑centered approach to service.
  • Proficiency in appointment scheduling and managing front desk operations in a medical or eye care office.
  • Basic knowledge of optometry or willingness to learn clinical procedures and optometric terminology.
  • Experience in a medical office setting, including handling patient records and insurance verification.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interactions with patients, staff, and providers.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy in data entry, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfort with computer‑based scheduling systems and electronic health records; basic office technology skills.
  • Previous experience in eye care, healthcare, or customer service is preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or medical office training is a plus.
