Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to provide rehabilitative care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. The PTA will implement treatment plans, assist patients in restoring mobility, improving functional abilities, reducing pain, and achieving rehabilitation goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance training, transfer training, and mobility interventions.
- Assist patients in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and functional independence.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs, mobility techniques, and injury prevention.
- Instruct patients on the safe use of assistive devices, prosthetics, orthotics, and adaptive equipment.
- Maintain accurate treatment documentation, progress notes, and patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with discharge planning and continuity of patient care.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention protocols, HIPAA regulations, patient safety standards, and facility policies.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of practice.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Physical Therapist Assistant experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rehabilitation techniques, therapeutic exercise, patient mobility, and functional restoration.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems preferred.
- Experience in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy, skilled nursing facilities (SNF), home health, or long-term care settings.
- Previous travel or contract therapy experience preferred.
- Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, geriatric, post-surgical, and medically complex patients.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and ability to work in a fast-paced rehabilitation environment.
