Accessioner I
The Accessioner I is responsible for accurately processing laboratory samples and supporting high-quality clinical testing. In this role, you catalog patient specimens—primarily blood, but also urine and tissue—so laboratory professionals can perform diagnostic testing and support patient treatment. You will work closely with other laboratory staff to ensure that all samples are received, documented, and prepared for analysis in a timely and precise manner.
Responsibilities- Receive and triage all specimens for clinical testing, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and prioritization.
- Catalog patient specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
- Manage and update clinical information within the LCLS database with a high level of accuracy.
- Perform specimen tracking activities to monitor the status and location of samples throughout the testing process.
- Prepare specimens for packing and shipping, following all relevant protocols and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure testing accuracy and smooth workflow across the laboratory.
- Maintain organized work areas and follow standard operating procedures to support efficient sample processing.
- Meet deadlines and turnaround times for specimen processing while maintaining quality and precision.
- Work independently on assigned tasks while contributing positively to a team-oriented environment.
- 0–2 years of work experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or similar high-paced environment.
- Experience working in a high-paced data entry and multitasking environment.
- Strong data entry skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with various departments.
- Basic understanding of biological specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue.
Skills & Qualifications
- AS or BS degree in biological sciences or a related discipline preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems or databases, such as LCLS, is an advantage.
- Comfort working with clinical specimens, particularly blood.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Commitment to following established laboratory protocols and procedures.
This role operates in a clinical laboratory setting where you will primarily handle blood specimens, along with urine and tissue samples. The environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, requiring consistent attention to detail and accurate data entry. You will work with laboratory databases such as LCLS and collaborate closely with other lab professionals and departments to support diagnostic testing. The position involves extended periods of working at a computer and at specimen processing stations, following standard laboratory safety and procedural guidelines.

This is a contract position based out of Earth City, MO.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
