Kaiser Permanente seeks a Behavioral Medicine Specialist to support pediatric patients within a technology-forward care environment. You’ll provide assessments, brief interventions, and evidence-based therapies for children and adolescents, collaborating closely with pediatricians and cross-functional IT teams. Responsibilities include integrating services into digital platforms, supporting telehealth visits, educating families, and documenting in EHR systems. You’ll help refine innovative, user-friendly behavioral health tools while contributing to a collaborative, improvement-driven culture.
Responsibilities- Provide behavioral health assessments and brief interventions for pediatric patients in an integrated care setting
- Collaborate with pediatricians, nurses, and IT teams to support digital health and telepsychology workflows
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional concerns
- Document clinical encounters in electronic health records following Kaiser Permanente standards
- Use digital tools and platforms to deliver virtual visits, patient education, and outcome tracking
- Consult with families on behavior management, coping strategies, and school-related challenges
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and quality-improvement initiatives
- Contribute to the development and testing of technology-enabled behavioral health solutions
Skills & Qualifications
- Pediatric behavioral health assessment
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Brief intervention models (e.g., MI, solution-focused)
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation
- Telehealth and telepsychology platforms
- Treatment planning for children and adolescents
- Family counseling and psychoeducation
- Interdisciplinary care coordination
- Behavioral data tracking and outcomes measurement
- Basic health IT/workflow optimization
- Active, unrestricted psychologist license or equivalent behavioral health license in state of practice
- CPR/BLS certification
- Training in evidence-based pediatric interventions (e.g., CBT, parent management training)
- Experience with HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms
