Administrative Diet Clerk
Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as an Administrative Diet Clerk is vital to patient care. You will ensure patients receive timely diet screenings, provide accurate diet information, and assist with meal selections based on prescribed diet orders. Your attention to detail will help maintain the accuracy of patient meal trays and support nutritional adequacy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Communicate any issues related to patient diets, meal appropriateness, and patient preferences that may impact nutritional intake.
- Perform administrative tasks including maintaining patient menus, nutritional analysis, dietary allergies, and diet orders for accuracy.
- Address patient or nursing questions regarding diet understanding or modifications.
- Ensure food temperatures are checked prior to meal service and verify meal tray accuracy.
- Distribute patient trays and prepare/deliver snacks as needed.
- Collaborate with dietitians to report any patient or diet concerns.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ExperienceMinimum of six months experience in healthcare food services is required.
Certification/LicenseNot applicable.
Mental/Physical RequirementsThis role requires considerable mental focus for repetitive tasks over extended periods. Expect long periods of standing and walking, ability to read and write, and learn procedures related to patient feeding and diet modifications. Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs during shifts.
Working ConditionsWork environment includes shared office and desk space with other food service personnel. Conditions may be warm and crowded. Exposure to infectious diseases, bodily fluids, heat, noise, wet floors, hot steam, chemicals, glass breakage, and sharp knives is possible. Noise may be present in patient rooms and nursing stations.
