This role serves as the primary point of contact for Orthopedics and Podiatry clinics, managing telephone communications and front desk operations with professionalism and warmth. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Promptly answer and direct incoming calls.
- Welcome patients with respect and kindness.
- Communicate clearly with patients and their families, keeping them informed throughout their visit.
- Accurately collect and enter demographic and insurance information.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations regarding patient information.
- Schedule appointments following established protocols.
- Assist patients and guardians with patient portal setup and registration.
- Make confirmation calls and guide patients to complete necessary paperwork online.
- Handle messages efficiently and update patient records as needed.
- Verify insurance coverage and collect co-payments at the time of service.
- Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, and reliability while managing multiple tasks.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Preference given to graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or candidates with two years of healthcare experience.
ExperienceAt least two years of experience in a general medical office or similar healthcare setting preferred. Equivalent customer service experience will also be considered.
CertificationsBasic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Physical and Mental RequirementsThis position requires significant mental focus and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching are part of the daily routine.
Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a medical office setting with occasional exposure to infectious diseases and challenging interactions. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
