AHA Certified Patient Care Assistant (PCA) - Float Pool

As a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) in the Float Pool, you will provide essential direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses, contributing to a safe and supportive environment for patients.
Working closely with RNs, LPNs, and shift managers, the PCA delivers basic patient care services, ensuring safety and comfort while supporting clinical staff.
- Adhere to established safety protocols including infection prevention and safe patient handling.
- Perform vital signs monitoring, glucometer checks, toileting, feeding, bathing, and assist with patient activities.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff to meet patient needs and respond promptly to requests.
- Accurately document patient care activities to support clinical decision-making.
- Communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to enhance outcomes.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
If uncertified or with less than one year of experience, candidates must complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.
This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 lbs., standing, walking, and various movements such as pushing, pulling, and reaching.
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional encounters with hostile individuals may occur.
