Administrative Patient Services Representative | BLS Certified

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as a Patient Services Representative is vital in creating a welcoming and efficient environment for patients. You will be the first point of contact, assisting patients with registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and providing essential support throughout their healthcare journey.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greet patients warmly and collect accurate demographic and insurance information, ensuring data is entered correctly into the system.
  • Update patient records and obtain necessary consents and forms.
  • Verify insurance coverage through direct contact with providers or electronic systems, securing pre-authorizations and referrals as needed.
  • Explain insurance benefits and financial responsibilities clearly to patients.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly answering calls, addressing concerns, and providing information.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other payments in line with organizational policies.
  • Support efficient claims processing and assist patients in navigating online portals.
  • Adapt to shifting work assignments and priorities as business needs evolve.
Education

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

Preferred experience includes six months in office, call center, customer service, or healthcare settings. Familiarity with computers and standard office equipment is necessary, with data entry proficiency favored. Completion of an accredited medical receptionist program or two years in healthcare is advantageous.

Certification/License

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.

Mental/Physical Requirements

Ability to concentrate and perform duties under time constraints, with frequent computer use and occasional interruptions. Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, assisting and transporting patients in wheelchairs, and lifting up to 10 pounds.

Working Conditions

Standard office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, and other hazards. Flexibility to work various shifts is necessary.
