Advanced Patient Care Assistant (PCA) - Medical Oncology

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and essential support to patients in a medical oncology setting. As an Advanced Patient Care Assistant (PCA), you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes to nursing staff.
  • Perform basic patient care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, conducting glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.
  • Collaborate closely with nursing personnel to meet patient needs promptly and enhance the overall patient experience.
  • Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and ensure continuity of care.
  • Effectively communicate relevant patient information to the healthcare team to improve outcomes and quality of care.
Education

A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Experience

At least one year of experience in a patient care role is preferred.

Requirements
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential preferred; if uncertified or with less than one year of experience, completion of a PCA training academy is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, bending, and other movements necessary for patient care.
  • Work environment involves exposure to infectious diseases and occasional encounters with challenging individuals.
