Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Warmly welcomes and greets all patients and visitors to the clinic
- Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information including personal and financial information using electronic medical record system.
- Schedules medical, dental, and behavioral health provider appointments in accordance with department and provider templates in effort to optimize provider time and patient satisfaction.
- Verifies patient insurance by running preauthorization’s.
- Facilitates patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival using electronic medical record system.
- Assists patients with registration paperwork as needed.
- Makes appointments and keeps accurate appointment schedules.
- Efficiently works in electronic medical record system, files and retrieves medical charts.
- Collects and records payments for services.
- Performs daily reconciliation tasks, balances and prepares deposit slip.
- Makes bank deposit at the end of each business day.
- Properly navigates incoming and outgoing faxes by assigning to appropriate staff.
- Scans and attaches patient documents to proper electronic chart location or assign to appropriate staff member.
- Responsible for keeping the front reception area clean and organized.
- Keeps the clinic waiting area cleaned/disinfected as required to ensure patient safety.
- Responds to patients', prospective patients, and visitor inquiries in a courteous manner.
- Participates in Health Center meeting and events as required
- Follows HIPAA guidelines and protects patient confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Access Coordinator must have the ability to plan and organize assignments and be self-motivating. Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure. Must possess patience in dealing with all people. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, vendors and all members of the public. Must be proficient with computers. Outgoing personality and outstanding customer service skills.
Education and/or experienceGED or High School diploma. Previous experience in a healthcare office setting desirable.
Language SkillsAbility to communicate clearly and respond to common inquiries or complaints from all customers. Fluency in the English language is required. Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply.
Data Entry SkillsAbility to learn, navigate, and enter data into a computer software system. Proficient with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
Mathematical SkillsBalancing daily log and bank deposit slip.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
