Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region as a Medical Instrument Courier. This role is essential for ensuring the timely and safe transport of sealed medical instruments and allergy serums between clinics and sterile processing departments. You will also provide non-emergency patient transportation within the regional healthcare network.
Key Responsibilities- Collect and transport sealed, soiled medical instrument containers to sterile processing areas using designated vehicles.
- Deliver sterilized instruments to clinics according to detailed checklists, maintaining required temperature and humidity conditions.
- Handle allergy serums carefully, ensuring proper temperature control and documentation during transport to off-site clinics.
- Transport safety deposit bags securely to banking institutions.
- Maintain accurate counts of instrument containers for each clinic.
- Provide non-emergency patient transportation from residences to healthcare facilities within the regional network.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic literacy and ability to follow written and verbal instructions are essential.
ExperienceAt least one year of experience in a service-related field is preferred, with healthcare or public transportation experience considered a plus. Strong customer service skills are required.
Certifications and LicensesCurrent American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Must hold a valid driver's license appropriate for the region, with an annual driver's exam.
Mental andPhysical Requirements
Ability to follow detailed instructions and learn transportation policies. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Annual physical and eye exams are required.
Working ConditionsThis position may involve extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting in a vehicle. Interaction with outpatients is common, and occasional exposure to unpleasant conditions during transportation may occur.
