- Explore, recommend, and coordinate insurance and potential financial assistance options for kidney dialysis patients
- Meet regularly with dialysis patients at clinics in the assigned region to educate and coordinate insurance options
- Educate patients on Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, and COBRA
- Ensure patients follow through with insurance application processes
- Obtain premium statements and patient signatures
- Complete and follow up on disputed claims paperwork
- Complete initial and annual indigent waiver applications
- Determine Medicare eligibility and assist eligible patients with Medicare applications
- Liaise between patients and local agents for Medicare terminations and reinstatements
- Complete annual open enrollment and Medicare reinstatement papers
- Track 30-month coordination periods for patients on employer Group Health Plans
- Monitor and verify Medicaid status and determine spend-down amounts
- Evaluate personal financial information and determine eligibility for indigent programs
- Monitor and update patient insurance information for the Accounts Receivable Department
- Research and resolve insurance information anomalies and discrepancies
- Meet with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure payment for dialysis treatments owed to Fresenius
- Prepare, analyze, and review monthly caseload progress reports
- Audit billing-system patient reports and correct discrepancies
- Provide QA team members with monthly insurance-status and action-plan information
- Complete monthly audit exams to remain current on internal policies
- Present insurance and financial assistance options to patients as needed
- Assist with assigned projects and other duties
- Bachelor's Degree required;
Social Work or other Healthcare focus preferred - 2 - 5 years' related experience; healthcare industry preferred
- Experience with Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid systems a plus
- Past patient interaction a plus
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Strong customer service philosophy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid Driver's License
- Extensive local travel to clinics in a specified geographic area
