Ultrasound Technologist

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Ultrasound Technologist
, under the direction of the Medical Director and the Director of Radiology,performs diagnostic sonographic examinationsutilizingultrasonicequipment tolocate, evaluate and record critical physiological, pathological, and anatomical data.

• Produces ultrasound images to aid in the diagnosis of medical problems
• Monitors and ensures safety of patient and staff
• Performs patient screening by using established protocols
• Utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment and in all functions of the job
• Provides complete pre and postexamededucation to patients and family

• Education: Graduate from an accredited school of sonography or completion of an ultrasoundprogram.
• Licensure: American Registry of Diagnostic Sonography Registry, Active and unrestrictedA.R.D.M.Scertification OR CCI-RCS, 1 Specialty Registries, Basic Life Support, BLS–HCP
• Exhibits working knowledge of all Ultrasound equipment and procedures.
• Referstophysicianorders/chart for any special instructions that may be indicated.
• Routinely questions the patient before procedure to obtain patient history.
• Explainsprocedurescompletelytofacilitatecooperation and alleviate anxiety.
• Performs all procedures in an efficient andtimelymanner without compromising quality or the mission statement.
• Coordinates Ultrasound schedule with other areas to prevent patient waiting.
