Joseph Phelps Vineyards, an iconic luxury wine estate in Napa Valley, is seeking a Senior Hospitality Manager to lead our hospitality team and deliver exceptional guest experiences that reflect the excellence, warmth, and elevated service standards of our brand. This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all hospitality operations, including guest experiences, retail sales, memberships, reservations, and tasting programs.

The Senior Hospitality Manager oversees the Estate Ambassador team, Hospitality Manager, and Supervisors, while maintaining full P&L accountability for the Guest Center, including wine sales, merchandise sales, and hospitality experiences.

Key Responsibilities Leadership & Operations
  • Lead and develop Hospitality Managers, Supervisors, and Estate Ambassadors to deliver best-in-class luxury hospitality experiences.
  • Drive operational excellence, revenue growth, and guest satisfaction across all hospitality touchpoints.
  • Develop staffing plans and schedules to support business needs while maintaining superior service standards.
  • Oversee hospitality budgets, expenses, cash flow, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Partner closely with DTC, Marketing, Reservations, Events, Club, E-Commerce, Facilities, and Operations teams to support business goals and brand standards.
  • Stay current on luxury hospitality trends, wine industry developments, and guest experience best practices.
Talent Development
  • Lead recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training efforts for hospitality team members.
  • Develop training programs and performance goals to ensure consistency, service excellence, and brand alignment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, development conversations, and recognition programs.
  • Maintain team compliance with Responsible Beverage Service and food safety training requirements.
  • Partner with Human Resources on employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary matters.
Guest Experience & Retail Sales
  • Champion a highly personalized, luxury-level guest experience for visitors, members, trade partners, and VIP guests.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and ensure timely follow-up and service recovery.
  • Monitor retail and hospitality performance, recommending enhancements to improve guest engagement and revenue.
  • Oversee reservation systems, POS operations, tasting programs, retail sales, inventory management, and daily hospitality activities.
  • Collaborate with Club and Reservations teams to ensure seamless guest communications and memorable experiences.
  • Support winery events and special programs to ensure flawless execution and elevated service.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Joseph Phelps wines, history, hospitality offerings, and brand standards.
Financial & Business Management
  • Manage Guest Center revenue, expenses, inventory, and budget performance.
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning efforts.
  • Monitor pricing, sales performance, inventory accuracy, and retail merchandising strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including wine shipping requirements and hospitality policies.
Facilities & Presentation
  • Coordinate maintenance requests, repairs, and facility readiness with Facilities and Operations teams.
  • Conduct routine inspections of hospitality spaces to ensure cleanliness, organization, and luxury presentation standards.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and guest-ready environment throughout the estate.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in luxury hospitality, fine wine, premium retail, private membership, or a high-touch service environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing teams, budgets, and business operations with full P&L responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of wine, wine country hospitality, guest service, and luxury brand standards.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional presence and polished communication style aligned with a luxury hospitality environment.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams while driving a culture of excellence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Physical Requirements
  • Regular schedule is Wednesday through Sunday.
