Location: California

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a nationally recognized AM Law firm seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join their team. This opportunity is open to candidates located near any of the firm’s U.S. office locations and offers a flexible 4+4 hybrid schedule (Wednesdays in office plus four additional in‑office days per month).

This is a highly visible HR leadership role supporting attorneys, professional staff, and firm leadership across multiple offices. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in employee relations, California employment law, and leave administration within a professional services or law firm environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead employee relations matters including performance management, investigations, and disciplinary processes
  • Administer leave programs including FMLA, medical, parental, and short‑term disability in partnership with Benefits and Payroll
  • Support professional staff performance management, retention initiatives, and talent development strategies
  • Conduct new hire and exit interviews to support engagement and retention efforts
  • Partner with Office Managers to ensure consistency in HR practices across offices
  • Contribute to national HR initiatives including compensation, DEI, policy development, change management, and performance programs
  • Develop and maintain professional staff job descriptions
Qualifications
  • Advanced, hands‑on California employment law experience supporting CA‑based employees or offices
  • 5+ years of HR experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment
  • Strong employee relations and coaching experience supporting leadership and staff
  • Demonstrated experience administering leave and accommodation programs
  • HRIS experience required (Dayforce strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certifications preferred
