About Women Of Color On The MoveWomen of Color on the Move (WOCOTM) is a nonprofit public benefit organization committed to empowering historically marginalized communities by advancing health equity, economic empowerment, education, and social justice. Since its founding in 2014, WOCOTM has delivered community-based education, advocacy, prevention, and support programs addressing issues such as substance abuse, maternal and child health, youth development, financial literacy, and community engagement both in the U.S. and internationally.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-aligned Human Resources Assistant to support the HR department’s operational effectiveness. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, this role assists with recruitment coordination, onboarding logistics, documentation management, compliance tracking, and general HR administrative functions. The HR Assistant plays a key role in ensuring accurate recordkeeping, process consistency, and responsive service to staff and leadership.

- Maintain confidential and organized personnel files
- Prepare HR forms, correspondence, and documentation as directed
- Schedule interviews, meetings, and onboarding sessions
- Respond to routine HR inquiries or direct them appropriately
- Assist with posting job announcements
- Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communications
- Track applicant information in recruitment systems
- Prepare onboarding materials and new hire documentation
- Support orientation logistics and onboarding processes
- Maintain accurate personnel records and ensure required documentation is complete
- Track policy acknowledgments and required trainings
- Assist with audit preparation and documentation organization
- Update HR databases and tracking systems regularly
- Assist in distributing performance review materials
- Track performance review completion timelines
- Maintain performance documentation within personnel records
- Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as organizational needs evolve.
This is a non-paid, volunteer role. Individuals serving in this capacity are not employees of the organization and do not receive financial compensation or employment benefits. Time commitment expectations and responsibilities will be mutually agreed upon in writing.
Qualifications Education (Preferred)- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field
- Students or recent graduates interested in HR careers are encouraged to apply
- Must know AI
- Experience in administrative support, office coordination, or clerical work preferred
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual collaboration tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Interest in nonprofit or mission-driven work preferred
