. Gibson Dunn is a leading global law firm, advising clients on significant transactions and disputes. Based in Los Angeles, the Payroll Assistant will be responsible for full payroll processing for up to 2,200 employees on a semi‑monthly basis and will report to the Payroll Manager.

Base pay range

$45,000.00/yr - $55,000.00/yr

Responsibilities
  • Providing day‑to‑day payroll support including answering employee payroll related questions.
  • Working independently and within a team on ongoing and special projects.
  • Running ad‑hoc reports in Report Writer, Time & Attendance system, and CMS.
  • Preparing Excel reports, tables and charts.
  • Preparing and sorting of payroll checks and mailings.
  • Maintaining highly confidential employee payroll records and ensuring records are kept confidential in accordance with federal and state regulations and firm guidelines.
  • Processing garnishments, liens, and child support orders.
  • Completing employment verifications in accordance with firm policy.
  • Managing unclaimed checks, stop payments, and check adjustment processes.
Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills and follow‑through with employees of all levels.
  • Strong organizational, multi‑tasking, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to perform successfully in a deadline‑oriented environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work effectively with a team.
Experience
  • 0‑2 years of experience in Payroll processing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with Workforce Now or ADP system preferred.
  • Experience with Enterprise eTime or Workforce manager a plus.
  • Familiarity with standard payroll concepts, practices, and procedures desired.
  • Knowledge of federal and state overtime and applicable labor laws preferred.
  • Experience with all types of wage garnishments preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wage and hour regulations preferred.
