The Human Resources Manager supports Tandem Foods' multi-site food manufacturing operations across the Los Alamitos & Cypress Campus. This role is responsible for leading the Human Resources function to maximize employee performance, strengthen organizational culture, and support the company's strategic objectives. The HR Manager partners closely with Plant Leadership and managers to provide strategic HR guidance, influence talent decisions, ensure legal compliance, and create a best-in-class employee experience.

This position serves as a trusted advisor to leadership while championing employee engagement, operational excellence, and the success of both salaried and hourly team members.

Essential Functions &

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Human Resources team while fostering a culture of engagement, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Partner with Plant Leadership to develop and execute HR strategies that support business objectives and organizational growth.
  • Utilize business knowledge to provide strategic HR guidance and solutions that address operational challenges.
  • Assess organizational effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, performance, and culture.
  • Collaborate with HR Operations to evaluate and enhance HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance and improve the employee experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with managers and plant leadership as a trusted Human Resources advisor.
  • Consult with leaders on employee relations, performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations while ensuring consistency and legal compliance.
  • Investigate employee relations matters promptly, thoroughly, and confidentially, documenting findings and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Coach and develop leaders to improve communication, employee engagement, and overall leadership effectiveness.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Human Resources team through ongoing training, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Partner with leadership to assess talent, develop succession plans, and strengthen organizational bench strength.
  • Oversee hourly recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture that supports employee engagement and retention.
  • Utilize HR metrics and analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead workforce planning, training, and development programs that support operational growth, efficiency, and automation initiatives.
  • Manage departmental budgets and Human Resources resources effectively.
  • Support organizational change management initiatives and drive successful implementation of business transformation efforts.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources experience, including at least 2 years in a management role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or other Human Resources certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to act with integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Experience coaching leaders and influencing talent decisions at multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong employee relations, conflict resolution, and investigative skills.
  • Experience leading organizational change and cultural transformation initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to align Human Resources initiatives to business objectives.
  • Proven analytical skills with experience utilizing HR metrics and workforce data to support decision-making.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Pay Range
