Heights Christian Schools is seeking a spiritually mature, organized, and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join our team and support the people who make our ministry possible. This role combines practical Human Resources expertise with a heart for ministry, providing support across employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, compliance, payroll, records management, volunteers, and other essential HR functions. The ideal candidate will bring sound judgment, strong organizational skills, discretion, and a genuine desire to serve others while helping HCS maintain a workplace that reflects our mission and honors Christ.

The Human Resources Generalist plays an important role in supporting our leadership, caring for our employees, and helping create an environment where people can grow, serve, and faithfully carry out the mission of HCS.

Initial 30-hour full-time role with an opportunity to transition to 40-hours within 12 months.

Salary: $24.00-$28.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Administrative Duties
  • Implements human resources strategies and department accountabilities, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, records management, safety and health, employee relations and retention, EEO compliance, and labor relations.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by adhering to existing and new legislation and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares employees for assignments by establishing employee orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system, keeping past and current records.
  • Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishment.
  • Facilitate the volunteer program including processing background checks, maintaining records accurately and confidentially.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in transmitting payroll data to the payroll company, process and maintain company payroll records as directed.
  • Assist with various research projects and/or special projects.
  • Coordinate and prepare annual mailings.
  • Issue monthly updates and acknowledgements of employee birth dates, anniversary dates, etc.
  • Respect professional ethics that require confidentiality concerning the sharing of information about children, parents, or staff.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Greet everyone with a friendly, helpful attitude when they enter the office or call on the telephone. Treat each person with respect and courtesy.
  • Work on specialized assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is needed in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.
  • Work independently with little to no instructions on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.
  • Provide administrative support to relieve managers and staff of administrative details.
  • Show initiative and go through the proper channels to offer suggestions for improving ministry procedures.
