Job Summary

Boeing is seeking a Mid Level Information Technology Database Administrator (DBA) to join our enterprise data and platform teams. The Mid Level IT DBA will assist in the administration, support, and optimization of relational and No

SQL database systems that underpin critical business and engineering applications. This role provides an opportunity to learn enterprise-grade database operations, performance tuning, backup/recovery, security controls, and automation in a highly regulated aerospace environment.

Preferred candidate location: Southern California, with consideration for St. Louis, Dallas, and Renton, WA areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in installation, configuration, and patching of database software (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre

    SQL, MySQL, Mongo

    DB).
  • Support database provisioning, schema deployment, and change management in collaboration with development and platform teams.
  • Monitor database health and performance; help diagnose and resolve performance issues and bottlenecks.
  • Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures and testing.
  • Implement and help maintain database security controls, access management, and audit logging to meet compliance requirements.
  • Participate in capacity planning and resource optimization activities.
  • Create and maintain operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, and documentation.
  • Assist with automation of routine DBA tasks using scripting or orchestration tools.
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, application, and security teams to support database migrations, upgrades, and integration.
  • Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience administering databases or supporting database-backed applications.
  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts (schemas, indexes, transactions, normalization) and SQL.
  • Familiarity with at least one major RDBMS (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre

    SQL, MySQL) or No

    SQL databases.
  • Basic knowledge of backup/restore concepts, high availability, and disaster recovery principles.
  • Scripting ability (e.g., Bash, Power Shell, Python).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across operations, development, and security teams.
  • Eligibility to work in the job location and meet export control or program security requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience administering databases or supporting database-backed applications.
  • Experience with database monitoring and management tools (e.g., OEM, SQL Server Management Studio, pg Admin, Datadog, Solar Winds).
  • Exposure to cloud‑managed database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL/Managed Instances, Google Cloud SQL) and cloud migrations.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Cloud Formation).
  • Understanding of database security best practices, encryption, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified:
    Azure Database Administrator, AWS Database Specialty, or similar.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated industries.
