Under the direction of a Supervisor I, the Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, curating, and interpreting quantitative empirical data to identify potentially fraudulent activity. The findings and data resources developed in this role serve as critical leads for Investigations staff conducting enforcement actions targeting potential criminal activity—both internal and external to the DMV.
This is a high-impact position at the intersection of analytics, compliance, and public service.
Key Responsibilities Data Collection & Analysis- Gather, query, validate, and organize structured and unstructured data
- Analyze driver licensing, vehicle registration, and occupational licensing datasets
- Perform statistical analyses to identify patterns and anomalies
- Evaluate enforcement activities to assess impact on fraudulent and criminal behavior
- Develop substantive findings to support investigations
- Provide insights into operational and criminal implications of missing or defective data
- Collaborate with Investigations staff to generate actionable intelligence
- Create and maintain data dictionaries and data models
- Develop standardized data vocabulary and definitions in consultation with management
- Provide input on data collection regimes and database access controls
- Monitor and evaluate internal and external data systems
- Develop test scripts, validation procedures, and matching processes
- Create and maintain data visualization tools and dashboards
- Provide input to information systems programmers and developers on data extraction and modeling performance
- Describe your experience gathering, cleaning, analyzing, interpreting, and developing visualizations and/or reporting of data.
