Under general direction of the Information Technology (IT) Manager II, the incumbent serves as the Chief of the Software License & Configuration Mgmt. Office (SLCM). This unit is comprised of IT professionals in various IT classification levels ranging from IT Associate to IT Specialists, who are responsible for managing IT Software Assets, Patching, Upgrading Operating System, Device Imaging and IT Service Management System Support.

The incumbent oversees highly complex IT functions which include in depth systems analysis, design and administration, systems integration, testing, maintenance and operations. The incumbent has full management responsibility for standards, processes, procedures for the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, operation and procurement of software and technologies related to this office. The incumbent has full management responsibility for organizing, planning, coordinating, directing and controlling all activities associated with the day‑to‑day operations.

Pursuant to California Code of Regulations 549.90, this position will be filled via the California Department of Transportation Managerial Selection Program (MSP) process.

This process provides for examination and job-selection specific to each position and consistent with the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the classification.

Two years of experience as an Information Technology Supervisor I; or
One year of experience as an Information Technology Supervisor II; or
Six years of information technology experience performing a variety of progressively responsible technical, analytical, or supervisory tasks in support of computer systems or services in one or more of the major six domains or a closely related or emerging IT field.

At least two years of experience shall include performance of highly specialized work in a lead capacity on highly complex or specialized information technology systems or services, or in a progressively responsible supervisory capacity over highly complex or specialized information technology systems…
