Cyber Security Engineer
Santa Monica, CA | Full Time
The Cyber Security Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the organization's Information Security Program. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), this role will collaborate closely with various business units, including IT, Engineering and others, to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to information security across the organization. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing security measures to protect our organization's systems and networks from cyber attacks.
In this role, you will work closely with our IT department to ensure that all security procedures are implemented globally. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive individual looking to grow their career in information security.
- Monitor networks and systems for security breaches, investigate violations, and recommend appropriate action.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify potential weaknesses in our systems and networks, and drive remediation outcomes.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and standards to ensure that all systems and networks are secure.
- Work closely with the IT department to ensure that all security procedures are implemented globally and that all employees are trained to follow these procedures.
- Work with and implement new security platforms and technologies.
- Collaborate with other teams to identify and address security risks and to implement appropriate security measures.
- Develop, execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems.
- Configure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
- Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
Education and Experience
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or an Information Security related field. - Experience:
3-5 years of experience in information security, with a focus on endpoint security, network security and security operations.
- Knowledge of information security principles, frameworks, and best practices (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Experience and familiarity with industry platforms (EDR, SIEM, MDM, etc).
- Experience with Infrastructure security products: i.e. Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Email Protection, DLP.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (i.e. python, powershell, bash).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear and engaging training materials.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX, SOC
2) and third-party risk management is a plus. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
This is a Full Time position. Actual schedule and hours may vary.
Supervisory ResponsibilityReports directly to Chief Information Security Officer.
