Internship, Network Engineer, Infrastructure Engineering (Winter/Spring 2024) – Tesla
Job located in California. Internship expected to start around January and continue through April/May, lasting a minimum of 12 weeks.
Internships are full‑time (40 hours a week) and in‑person. International students with CPT authorization must consult their school before applying. Many students may be limited to part‑time based on academic standing.

About the TeamSpecialized in network engineering within a global enterprise environment. The role involves network engineering, implementation, analysis, and operational support, ensuring compliance with system architecture, regulations, and security policies. Responsibilities include following standards and best practices and authoring and maintaining support documentation.
What You’ll Do- Work closely with Staff Network Engineers on design and initiatives.
- Maintain current network solutions within manufacturing, workplace, retail, and data center environments.
- Serve as a Tier 2‑3 escalation point.
- Gather requirements, analyze, and propose solutions to networking needs.
- Provision, implement, test/validate, and maintain networking services per solution design.
- Conduct product POC evaluations.
- Monitor, analyze, and report metrics of network services.
- Document network knowledge base and operational “Run‑Book.”
- Participate in on‑call rotation (potentially on weekends).
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and graduating between 2024 and 2026.
- Experience with mid‑to‑large global enterprise networking infrastructure.
- Familiarity with IP networking, L2/L3 protocols (spanning‑tree, OSPF, BGP), TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, end‑to‑end QoS, VLAN, VRRP, LACP, MC‑LAG, EVPN with VXLAN, ACL, application flow, NAC, and infrastructure cabling.
- Nice to have:
Experience with multi‑vendor switching technologies (Juniper, Arista, Cisco). - Extensive experience with Juniper SRX and Palo Alto Networks firewall services (IPSEC VPN, URL filtering, IDS/IPS).
- Experience with tools such as Protocol Analyzer, SNMP, Net Flow, IPAM, RADIUS, Splunk, network taps, and load/stress testing.
- Experience developing scripts to automate infrastructure deployment and collect metrics.

Expected compensation: $32.45 – $45.43 per hour + benefits.
Pay offered may vary depending on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include additional components depending on the role offered.
