** Role Summary
** We are seeking a seasoned technologist to join ATG Data Solutions as a Technical Business Analyst. This role is the critical link between complex AEC business systems and the software engineers who build our solutions. You will navigate intricate data silos, decompose them into functional requirements, and ensure that our technical deliverables perfectly align with our clients' strategic goals.
** The Ideal Profile
** The ideal candidate excels at discovery and process analysis, bringing a rigorous, structured approach to solving complex business challenges with data and automation. You likely have professional experience with design tools (Revit, Civil 3D) and may have invested time in learning to code. While you may have found your true calling in bridging the gap between "the what" and "the how" rather than pure software development, your technical literacy allows you to speak the language of engineers and clients with equal fluency.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Strategic Analysis & Client Discovery
* Exceptional Consultation:
Lead client interviews and observations with an exceptional "bedside manner," translating complex IT concerns into understandable, actionable narratives.
* Gap Identification:
Independently identify pain points and bottlenecks in current manual processes, proposing data-driven, automated alternatives.
* System Mapping:
Evaluate customer data and system landscapes to identify master data sources and assist in designing new solution architectures.
* Detailed Technical Documentation
* Functional Requirements:
Document business use cases, data objects, and SQL database requirements in a concise, easy-to-digest format.
* Data Lifecycle Management:
Create detailed data flow diagrams, mapping data triggers, timing, and mapping across the lifecycle.
* Technical Bridging:
Assist software engineers in writing Technical Requirements Documents (TRDs), ensuring that promises made during discovery are technically feasible for development.
* Technical Design & Validation
* API Verification:
Use tools like Postman and Swagger to validate API capabilities (GET/PUT/POST/DELETE) and ensure necessary fields and endpoints exist.
* Pragmatic Automation:
Prioritize the "KISS" (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle, championing maintainable MVP solutions over unnecessary complexity.
** Requirements**
* ** 3+ years experience
** working with development projects that integrate with enterprise business systems
* ** Communication:
** Proven ability to interact with stakeholders using exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* ** Database:
** Functional SQL knowledge and understanding of 3rd normal form
* ** Cloud & APIs:
** Working knowledge of modern application development and RESTful APIs
* ** AI Ready:
** Conceptual understanding of MCP (Model Context Protocol) and how LLMs interact with hosted tools
** Professional and Consulting Skills
** Project Management:
* Document requirements, data flows, and system architecture
* Estimate effort accurately and communicate blockers or timeline risks proactively

* Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team
