What You Will Be Doing

You will serve as a principal figure within the data governance engagement, acting as the key coordinator and facilitator across multiple sites and business units. You will partner closely with client stakeholders to drive classification, access control, and decision‑making processes. You’ll own critical work streams such as defining access matrices, leading governance forum meetings, and developing operational documentation. During the engagement, you will be heavily on‑site traveling approximately 10–14 days across pilot sites in the early phases, ensuring face‑to‑face relationship building and situational assessment.

Your role is pivotal in translating operational realities into technical and governance artifacts that align with client priorities and ensuring stakeholder buy‑in throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead classification sessions of approximately 600 Matillion jobs across multiple projects to categorize them into keep, refactor, archive, or delete.
  • Facilitate access matrix discovery sessions with IT leads, capturing detailed access requirements and publishing the matrix as a governance artifact before Redshift provisioning.
  • Manage governance forum operations, including documenting agendas, decisions, and follow‑up actions, and ensuring decisions are tracked with clear owners and rationales.
  • Prepare, record, and deliver training sessions on topics such as Redshift administration, Matillion patterns, and access modeling, collaborating with technical team members.
  • Develop and maintain an operations cookbook as a companion to training materials to support ongoing client operations.
  • Collaborate with data owners and architecture teams to roll out the data catalog, including ownership, classification, and lineage inputs, ensuring socialization and adoption.
  • Lead master data sessions to reconcile site‑level and enterprise‑level definitions for critical tables such as Customer, Supplier, and Part, resolving conflicts based on contextual needs.
  • Support change management efforts by establishing stakeholder communication cadence, decision deadlines, and managing the human aspects of pilot site cutovers.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in business analysis, data governance, or technology program leadership roles, with at least 5 years leading multi‑site or multi‑business‑unit initiatives.
  • Proven experience facilitating senior client governance forums, capturing decisions, and driving follow‑through across sprints.
  • Hands‑on experience defining or building access matrices and similar governed access artifacts, with the ability to walk through real examples.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing data catalog rollouts that involve populating ownership, classification, and lineage via engagement with business owners.
  • Strong written communication skills, capable of producing detailed documentation, decision logs, and training materials used by clients.
  • Effective facilitation skills, especially during working sessions to ensure productive discovery and decision‑making.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10–14 days during early phases of the engagement.
  • Experience working within regulated environments such as DFARS, ITAR, HIPAA, or financial services, with an understanding of compliance requirements.
  • Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid Driver's License.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Prior experience with aerospace, defense, or ITAR‑regulated clients.
  • Data governance certification such as DAMA CDMP, CIMP, or comparable credentials.
  • Working knowledge of Matillion and Redshift products to follow technical discussions without necessarily building platforms.
  • Experience establishing or managing a Data Governance Council or similar cross‑functional governance bodies.
  • Proven ability to develop operational runbooks and handover documentation for client use.
  • Consulting background at a Big 4 or top‑tier boutique data practice.
