Sr Wireless Network Engineer

Job Title

Sr Wireless Network Engineer [Wi-Fi] – Cisco ACI Data Center Network.

Permanent, Full-time (client payroll).

Hybrid – minimum 2-3 days onsite in San Francisco Bay Area, CA.

7+ years of progressively responsible and directly related experience, including at least 5 years in critical datacenter network environments.

CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or CCIE lab.

• Expert knowledge of network administration, routing, switching, and engineering in mission-critical datacenter environments servicing large server deployments.
• Knowledge of a wide variety of network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, denial-of-service mitigation, serial consoles, load balancers).
• Strong working knowledge of Cisco network hardware and software, LAN/WAN connectivity, and wireless networks, including overlaying APs onto blueprints (CAD or similar) for heat-mapping; experience with 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, RF design and WLAN fundamentals.
• Experience designing controller clustering, failover methods, group management, AP modes of operation, patching, RF management and related tasks.
• Advanced understanding of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VDC, vPC, and ECMP.
• Proven ability with wireless optimizations (AP placement, signal levels, roaming, spectrum selection, channel tuning, cell optimization, QoS).
• Strong leadership and project management skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams on complex projects.
• Proficiency with productivity applications (spreadsheets, apps, systems).
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
• Commitment to policies and procedures, including Service Standards and Code of Conduct.
• Design, implementation, support and maintenance of WAN, LAN, data center, and Cisco ACI deployments, including application delivery controllers and firewalls.
• Experience with wireless technologies: WLC, MSE, CPI, WAP, Any Connect supplicant, ISE.
• ISE configuration and maintenance (DACL, policy sets, VLAN mapping, 802.1x, TACACS, RADIUS, profiling, posture checking, authentication troubleshooting).
• 802.11i wireless knowledge, EAP methods including EAP-TLS, certificates, authentication, integration on Microsoft Windows clients.
• Network operations excellence in highly available, mission-critical environments.
• Participation in documentation processes – network diagrams, staff/vendor contacts, monitoring and inventory tools.
• Optimization of technology performance, implementation of new infrastructure improvements.
• Development and enforcement of standards in line with company guidelines.
• Assistance with escalated issue resolution and problem-management participation.
• Cross-training of IT staff in technology maintenance or usage.

• Support a highly available, mission-critical network for Cisco APIC and Nexus 9k platforms.
• Document network diagrams, staff/vendor contacts, and use monitoring/inventory tools.
• Optimize the stability and reliability of technology performance.
• Implement new technologies to improve infrastructure, evaluate ACI fabric for tenant segregation and reduce TCAM/RAM usage.
• Contribute to migration plans from traditional data center designs to Cisco ACI.
• Collaborate with managers to develop and monitor standards aligned with company guidelines.
• Assist with escalated issue resolution and participate in problem management.
• Cross-train other IT staff in maintenance and usage.
• Manage large projects effectively.
