Job Summary
World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking a Systems Engineer for a six-month contract-to-hire engagement on the Business Infrastructure Services team. The role offers the opportunity to convert to a full-time position based on performance and business needs. The Systems Engineer will support a wide range of core infrastructure technologies—including compute, storage, networking, operating systems, monitoring, backups/recovery, and automation frameworks—at our Integration Center.
Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with Integration Center leadership and cross‑functional IT resources.
- Manage the compute environment, including VxRail.
- Manage existing configuration management and automation.
- Maintain operating systems such as VMware ESXi, Windows Server (Active Directory, DHCP, File Share, Terminal Services), and Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu).
- Automate IaaS and PaaS technologies using Power Shell, Python, Ansible, or similar tools.
- Provide systems administration support (OS, server hardware, Tier 2/3 ticket support), perform routine equipment checks, preventative maintenance, capacity planning, and performance planning.
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships.
- Document policies and procedures, and participate in the design and ongoing refinement of procedures and policies for the Integration Center infrastructure.
- Provide on‑call support per the published schedule.
- Identify and pursue enhancement opportunities to improve services and support for stakeholders.
- 5+ years of experience managing a VMware environment.
- 5+ years of experience managing Windows Server and Linux Server operating systems.
- Experience building automation with Power Shell, Python, Puppet, Ansible, and Bash.
- Experience with monitoring systems such as Splunk, Logic Monitor, Tanium, and Tenable.
- Knowledgeable in basic network configuration (routing, switching, firewalling, cabling, layer‑2 environments, data center/campus networking, routing protocols, subnetting, IP protocols, IOSXE, Cisco ASA/FTD).
- Experience managing Service Now tickets and developing reporting and dashboards.
- Experience managing projects or leading the work of others.
Salary range: $44–$54 per hour. Actual pay is based on factors such as shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure, certification, and business needs.
