Job Description

Responsible for creating or auditing a comprehensive estimate of damages for 1st and 3rd party material damage claims in either the auto or specialty lines leading to the proper disposition. Responsible for training, mentoring, controlling quality and providing technical assistance on material damage claims.

National General is seeking an Auto Claims Appraiser to join our Saint Louis, MO team!

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with repair facilities and customers by completing on-site estimates and vehicle appraisals. To best support the territory, the ideal candidate will be based in Saint Louis.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing a variety of auto claims, conducting vehicle inspections, and using
CCC ONE estimating software to prepare accurate damage estimates while working closely with repair facilities and customers. If you are an experienced auto appraiser who enjoys working in the field and delivering excellent customer service, we encourage you to apply!

Key Responsibilities
  • Possesses strong estimating fundamentals in order to create or audit estimates of damages on 1st and 3rd party material damage losses of all severities
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the content of all policy types written by the company
  • Negotiates settlements, makes settlement payments and documents all activities in the most complex of files across multiple lines
  • Evaluates settlement alternatives by reviewing regulatory compliance and fair claims practices; makes decisions on best option
  • Builds mastered relationships with both internal and external customers across multiple lines
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This job does not have supervisory duties.

As a requirement of employment, individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment. Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team. Base compensation offered for this role is:

  • Field Adjuster Cons I: $26.49 – $40.99/hour
  • Field Adjuster Cons II: $28.03 – $43.70/hour
  • Field Adjuster Sr. Cons I: $35.82 – $50.24/hour

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation for this role may include additional components, such as incentive pay (for example, commission or bonus), if applicable.
