Adjuster for Missouri. The specific territory includes several counties in Missouri around ideally around Lincoln or Warren County.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Our Claims Department is responsible for adjusting claims for all lines of business from first notice of loss to conclusion. We have a strong focus on customer service and helping our clients through what can be difficult moments in their lives.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Claims Adjuster supports Sur Safe’s claims operations by investigating and processing property claims, inspecting damages, verifying coverage, and documenting findings to ensure claims are handled accurately, fairly, and efficiently. This position also helps deliver strong customer service by communicating with claimants, insureds, and other parties throughout the claims process.

This position is well suited for someone who is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently while managing a territory-based workload. Success in this role requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance fieldwork, investigation, and timely reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys investigative work, problem-solving, and helping people through challenging situations, and who wants to build a long-term career in claims or the broader insurance industry.

DUTIES

  • Plan and schedule daily work to process claims and inspections
  • Investigate and process insurance claims
  • Interview claimant and witnesses to gather pertinent information.
  • Handle property claims involving damage to buildings and structures, or liability claims involving personal injuries or third-person property damage from liability situations, such as slip and falls, dog bites, or alleged negligent behavior.
  • Inspect property damage to determine the extent of damages.
  • Verify that coverage applies through an insurance policy.
  • Evaluate damages to ascertain compensation amount.
  • Consult police and hospital records.
  • Consult with accountants, architects, construction workers, engineers, lawyers, and physicians to get expert evaluation.
  • Examine photographs and statements.
  • Listen to or watch audio or video surveillance.
  • Record data and statements in the report.
  • Evaluate all information to determine how the claim should be handled.
  • Negotiate with the claimant to settle the claim.
  • Prepare and present claims to insurance companies.
  • Performing an on-site inspection, evaluating the exposures and controls, and developing recommendations to improve risk’s insurability.
  • Uploading completed reports, photos, and diagrams through a special website or completing reports on web-based systems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be able to complete Texas Adjusters Licensing course and exam.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to safely climb ladders and navigate tall or steep roofs.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to access and navigate crawl spaces, attics & other similar tight spaces.
  • Must be able to perform other physical tasks as they arise.
  • Possess appropriate interpersonal communication, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to utilize various computer software programs to include:
    Microsoft Office programs, Xactimate Estimating Software, and other appropriate applications.
  • Self-motivated and can work independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer service orientation.
  • A college degree is preferred, but a minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
