Senior Product Liability Claims Examiner

• Directly manage assigned complex product liability claims throughout the claim life cycle
• Conduct claims investigation, contract and coverage analysis, and evaluation of liability and damages
• Direct defense counsel regarding settlement values, defense tactics, and strategies
• Participate in expert witness selection, negotiations, trials, settlement conferences, mediations, and insured meetings
• Maintain communication with supervisors, counsel, and internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure proper claim-file documentation and compliance with company and state requirements
• Prepare management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing claim information
• Review and approve reasonable legal expenses and fees and negotiate charge adjustments when appropriate
• Keep apprised of changes in law and court procedures affecting claims
• Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders, brokers, and conference or seminar attendees
• Collaborate on policy form research, development, revisions, regulatory work, and product development
• Perform special projects as directed by management

• Bachelor's degree required
• JD, CPCU, ARM, AIC, or similar advanced education or certification preferred
• Minimum five years’ experience handling complex product liability cases, or at least seven years’ experience in the legal field
• High degree of specialized and technical competence
• Superior written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship management expertise
• Superior time management and organizational skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to make prompt, intelligent decisions based on detailed analysis of complex issues
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Willingness and ability to be available beyond normal business hours
• Valid driver’s license required
