Director, Non-Admitted

Develop and execute the strategy for the non-admitted business
Manage the Non-Admitted P&L and financial results
Oversee production and underwriting activities to ensure profitable and sustainable growth
Monitor portfolio quality, business mix, and key performance metrics
Manage or influence underwriting, technology, claims, risk control, actuarial, finance, data, and QA capabilities
Collaborate with Product and Distribution to develop products, services, and value propositions
Establish underwriting authority, appetite, and guidelines
Communicate portfolio performance, health, trends, and opportunities across the organization
Develop and execute non-admitted distribution strategy and manage key agent and broker relationships
Identify and drive new non-admitted business opportunities
Partner with Marketing and Distribution on marketing capabilities and value proposition
Recruit and manage a dedicated underwriting team as the book grows
Identify training needs, facilitate learning, and mentor team members

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• CPCU, IIA, or related professional designation preferred
• In-depth experience and knowledge of the surplus lines commercial insurance market and regulatory compliance requirements
• Active surplus lines license or ability to obtain one shortly after hire
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills
• Broad understanding of P&C insurance practices, processes, and regulations
• Ability to work effectively within a matrixed team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage high work volume and tight deadlines
• Proficiency in data analytics and Excel

Demonstrates expertise in managing non-admitted business strategies, overseeing underwriting and production activities, and ensuring compliance with surplus lines regulations. Proficient in data analytics and financial management to drive profitable growth and effective team leadership.
