Underwriting Specialist, Inland Marine

• Produce, underwrite, and service project and master builders risks within delegated underwriting authority
• Underwrite Inland Marine classes, including contractors equipment, riggers liability, installation projects, and transportation
• Apply account selection, coverage, risk management, aggregate management, reinsurance, and pricing techniques
• Maintain underwriting files and systems according to department guidelines
• Ensure aggregate and risk management activities are appropriate and systems reflect current, accurate account data
• Monitor underwriting results, loss trends, and market developments
• Implement account management best practices throughout the underwriting cycle
• Maintain existing accounts and develop new business sources
• Establish and maintain producer and client relationships within the assigned territory
• Coordinate activities with internal business units
• Provide professional service to customers
• Promote a positive impression of MSIG in the marketplace
• Enhance technical expertise through continuing education
• Assist in training, mentoring, and developing department staff

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferable
• CPCU/ insurance designations encouraged
• 5+ years of relevant underwriting experience with demonstrated productivity, profitability and business acumen
• Strong knowledge and technical expertise of relevant risks including exposures, forms, coverages, pricing methods, aggregate management, reinsurance and account management
• Demonstrated market presence with the ability to form lasting producer relationships and in depth knowledge of production sources and market capabilities within the assigned territory and product lines
• Strong portfolio management, organization, negotiation and time management skills with an understanding of the company’s business objectives
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within teams across multiple disciplines and support activities

Demonstrates extensive underwriting expertise in project and master builders risks, with strong capabilities in account management, risk assessment, and relationship building. Proficient in applying pricing techniques, aggregate management, and maintaining compliance with underwriting guidelines.
