The Claims Adjuster reviews repair estimates, inspection reports, and supporting documentation; communicates with repair facilities and customers; and determines contract coverage and authorization amounts in accordance with company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Handle incoming calls in a call center environment, meeting performance, handle time, and volume expectations
- Review and adjudicate claims according to established departmental procedures and company guidelines
- Verify repair estimates using national labor and parts guides, including labor rates and standard repair times
- Analyze repair documentation to determine coverage eligibility under service contract terms
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers, dealers, repair facilities, and vendors via phone and email
- Determine appropriate authorization amounts using sound judgment and mechanical knowledge
- Accurately document all claim activity, research, and decisions in the claims administration system
- Work collaboratively with the claims team and proactively support department goals
- Maintain high productivity and customer service standards
- Participate in training sessions and continuing education as required
- Assist management with special projects or issues as requested
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Technical training or a college degree is a plus
- Preferred: 3+ years of hands-on automotive repair or equivalent automotive technical experience
- Strong automotive mechanical knowledge
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications
- Experience using email, instant messaging, and virtual meeting platforms
- Excellent customer service skills, including conflict resolution and negotiation
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-call-volume environment
