Role: Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs – Technology
Duration: Permanent
Location: California, United States (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities- Develop strategies and lead the structuring, negotiation, and drafting of a wide range of commercial, technology, and software licensing agreements, including MSAs, SaaS agreements, DPAs, consulting agreements, website terms of service, EULAs, and ad sales contracts.
- Provide clear contractual and strategic guidance to internal stakeholders, identifying practical business‑focused solutions that achieve objectives while mitigating risk.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to collaborate confidently with internal clients and members of the legal team.
- Manage a high‑volume workload efficiently by prioritizing and escalating matters appropriately.
- Stay current on consumer protection, data usage, privacy, and data security regulations, as well as emerging technologies and evolving industry standards, to deliver informed compliance advice.
- Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctor from a top‑tier ABA‑accredited U.S. law school.
- 8+ years of combined relevant experience at a leading law firm and/or in‑house within a media, entertainment, or technology company.
- Extensive experience with commercial technology licensing (including SaaS) and procurement transactions, along with demonstrated exposure to ad tech, artificial intelligence, and related technologies.
- Exceptional negotiation and drafting abilities with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly translate complex legal concepts to non‑legal audiences.
- Proven ability to balance legal risk with practical business needs.
- Demonstrated independence, proactivity, sound judgment, and collaboration skills, with the ability to recognize when issues need escalation.
- Strong leadership, decision‑making, and relationship‑management capabilities.
- Admission to the State Bar of California (Registered In‑House Counsel status is acceptable).
- Experience negotiating contract terms involving privacy and data‑security compliance (e.g., VPPA, CPRA, GDPR).
- Prior experience working with product, engineering, and data science teams.
