Major, Lindsey & Africa’s client has an immediate need for an Interim General Counsel. Overview
Our client is seeking an Interim General Counsel.
ExperienceSuccessful candidates will have at least 10 years of relevant experience.
LocationHybrid – Southern California
ResponsibilitiesThe General Counsel will serve as the Company’s chief legal officer and strategic advisor. The General Counsel reports to the CEO and is responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters. This role requires significant experience advising healthcare businesses, including deep familiarity with healthcare laws, reimbursement frameworks, provider contracting, and regulatory compliance:
- Lead and oversee the Company’s legal function, serving as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and key stakeholders across the organization on legal, regulatory, and risk-related matters.
- Manage enterprise legal risk, and proactively develop strategies, policies, and controls to mitigate legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational exposure.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents, including various commercial agreements, corporate governance materials, internal policies and procedures, commercial agreements, compliance documentation, demand letters, and other legal correspondence.
- Oversee and negotiate employment and independent contractor agreements, including physician and advanced practice provider contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable healthcare laws.
- Provide strategic guidance on litigation, disputes, and regulatory inquiries or audits.
- Design, implement, and oversee healthcare compliance initiatives, including drafting and maintaining compliance policies and procedures and supporting training and operational alignment.
- Monitor and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable healthcare laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with outside counsel and provide legal support for strategic initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and geographic expansion.
- JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in California.
- Significant experience practicing healthcare law and demonstrated experience with healthcare regulatory matters.
- Proven ability to operate as a senior legal and business advisor.
- Strong judgment, executive presence, detail-oriented, and proven ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-legal stakeholders.
$120-155/hour
