Description:

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist for NPI owns sourcing strategy and supplier execution across all NPI phases. This role ensures that materials, suppliers, cost models, and risk controls mature in sync with engineering builds and program milestones. You will drive supplier engagement from early design through mass-production readiness.

Core Responsibilities Aligned to NPI Cycles
  • Early Supplier Engagement — Identify capable suppliers for new technologies and materials.
  • Should-Cost Modeling — Build early cost models to influence design decisions.
  • Prototype Sourcing — Execute quick-turn RFQs for low-volume prototype parts.
  • Design-for-Supply-Chain Input — Provide manufacturability, lead-time, and cost feedback to engineering.
  • RFQ & Quotation Analysis — Run structured RFQs for EVT volumes and validate supplier cost breakdowns.
  • Supplier Capability Assessment — Confirm process capability, tooling needs, and technology maturity.
  • Risk Identification — Map long-lead items, single-source risks, and capacity constraints.
  • Supplier Qualification — Drive audits, PPAP/APQP readiness, and quality approvals.
  • Tooling & NRE Management — Negotiate and track tooling, fixtures, and NRE deliverables.
  • Cost Maturity — Push suppliers toward target cost through negotiation and design refinement.
  • Material Readiness — Ensure suppliers can support DVT build quantities and timelines.
  • Production Readiness — Validate supplier capacity, yield, and process stability.
  • Contract Finalization — Lock in pricing, LTAs, and supply agreements.
  • Ramp Readiness — Confirm supply chain can support pilot and early mass production.
  • Logistics & Lead Time Optimization — Finalize shipping modes, buffers, and safety stock.
  • Cost Reduction Roadmap — Drive VAVE, re-sourcing, and continuous improvement.
  • Supplier Performance Management — Monitor KPIs, scorecards, and corrective actions.
  • Sustaining Sourcing Support — Manage ECOs, re-quotes, and supply continuity.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field. is required.
  • 3–5+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or NPI supply chain is required.
  • 3+ years of experience procuring server hardware for NPI is required.
  • Strong understanding of EVT/DVT/PVT (Engineering Validation Testing, Design Validation Testing, and Production Validation Testing) cycles is required.
  • Must be able to run RFQs, complete cost modeling, and manage supplier negotiations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, ISO
    9001, or similar quality frameworks.
  • Global sourcing experience (Asia/EU/Mexico).
  • Certifications:

    CPSM, CSCP, Lean Six Sigma.
