Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Coordinator I, School Health and Wellness of the School Health and Wellness Department, the Mobile Health Unit Driver/Custodian safely operates and maintains the department's mobile health unit vehicle while supporting the delivery of health services at designated school and community locations.
This position ensures the mobile health unit vehicle is clean, sanitary, stocked, fueled, and in safe operating condition. The position assists with setup, breakdown, custodial care, and routine maintenance of the mobile health unit. When the mobile health unit vehicle is not in use, the position performs custodial work at assigned School Health and Wellness Department locations.

- Support the delivery of health services to students through BCSD mobile health unit
- Maintain the cleanliness of the mobile health unit vehicle and School Health and Wellness locations
Operate, stock and maintain the mobile health unit vehicle
Qualifications1. Experience driving large vehicles, commercial vehicles, passenger vans, buses, mobile units, or similar vehicles preferred; custodial experience preferred
2. Knowledge of safe driving practices, traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and applicable vehicle safety regulations
3. Possession of a valid California driver's license appropriate for the vehicle assigned
4. Ability to pass related pre-employment fitness exam
5. Knowledge of first aid practices, procedures, and techniques
6. Ability to exercise good judgment and extreme caution while driving
7. Ability to follow oral and written directions
8. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with students and assist with student supervision in and around the mobile health unit.
9. Basic knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used to clean, sanitize, and maintain the mobile health unit and assigned School Health and Wellness Department locations, including knowledge of safe lifting procedures
10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners
11. Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, special events, and varied locations as assigned
12. Bilingual proficiency desirable

Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Drives the mobile health unit to and from assigned school sites, community locations, events, service areas, maintenance facilities, and other designated locations according to assigned schedules and routes
2. Conducts pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the mobile health unit and related equipment in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, District procedures, and manufacturer guidelines
3. Cleans, washes, fuels, and services the mobile health unit as needed; checks basic operating components such as fluid levels, tires, lights, mirrors, safety equipment, and other assigned vehicle items
4. Reports and schedules needed mechanical repairs and maintenance when necessary
5. Escorts students safely between the school site and the mobile health unit; assists students, patients, families, staff, and visitors with safe entry and exit procedures as appropriate and within assigned duties
6. Assists with monitoring students while they are waiting to be seen and supports a safe, orderly, respectful environment in and around the mobile health unit
7. Assists with crowd flow, line management, check-in areas, safety zones, and general logistical support around the mobile health unit as directed
8. Sets up, moves, secures, loads, unloads, and adjusts furniture, supplies, equipment, signage, cones, ramps, tables, chairs, and other materials needed for mobile health services
