Overview
Maintenance Technician performs maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs and/or overhauls equipment and related plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components that make up the facility. Reports to the Maintenance Manager for direction, interpretation, and evaluation. Maintains Balchem quality and safety standards. Flexibility to work 2nd or 3rd shift.
Responsibilities- Understand how to operate equipment per operation guidelines, including safety procedures and guidelines.
- Understand equipment, processes, and monitoring of equipment operation.
- Record and maintain accurate data on documents; ensure paperwork is complete in a timely and accurate manner; ensure documentation complies with Company standards.
- Keep a neat, clean, and orderly work setting by completing the cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, and report potentially unsafe conditions.
- Consistently be on time to work, meetings, and training sessions.
- Attend all Company-sponsored training events for safety and personal growth and development.
- Become proficient in areas of production and safety policies and procedures; maintain a flexible attitude towards improvement and change.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience in food processing plant is preferred; sanitary pipe welding experience is preferred for Level 2; experience with distributed control systems is preferred for Level 2; ability to read blueprints/schematics; strong communication skills; ability to utilize computer programs.
- Education and Experience:
Associates Degree or College Degree (electromechanical or mechatronics preferred); 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education or experience. - Motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (oral and written).
- Excellent attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operation manuals, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting guides.
- Demonstrated strong work ethics (punctual, dependable, trustworthy).
- Ability to pass required examinations to perform essential functions.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations; communicate and handle conflict professionally; contribute to a positive team environment.
- Proven troubleshooting skills in electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Building maintenance skills such as concrete repair, plumbing, and HVAC experience are helpful; steam boiler and plant air compressor experience are helpful.
