Stock Clerk positions are available across various departments within the County of San Diego, with current vacancies in the Sheriff's Office.
Under general supervision, incumbents receive, store, inventory, issue, and deliver materials, supplies, and equipment for a department or division in a large storeroom or warehouse. The role involves routine and physical tasks.
Stock Clerks in the Sheriff's Office may also assign, train, instruct, lead, or supervise incarcerated persons and perform retail tasks such as scanning items at a point-of-sale terminal and delivering Commissary orders within detention facilities or Sheriff's Commissary Stores. Applicants must be willing to work any shift, including holidays or weekends, and may work in a 24-hour detention facility. Shift premiums and locked facility premiums may be available.

Working ConditionsWork is primarily indoors in office, storeroom, or warehouse environments, with frequent travel within the county for deliveries. Warehouse work may involve exposure to heights, loud noises, odors, fumes, dust, debris, and temperature variations. Work in the Sheriff's Office involves frequent interaction with potentially uncooperative or hostile incarcerated individuals.
Requirements- Six months of storeroom experience in receiving, storing, issuing, delivering, and inventorying supplies and equipment.
- Possession of a valid Certified Forklift Operator's license may be required within thirty days of appointment, depending on the position.
- Disqualifications may include certain misdemeanor or felony convictions depending on circumstances.
- Must demonstrate honesty and trustworthiness.
- Subject to a thorough background check, which may include a truth verification test.
