Responsibilities- Performs air brake inspection of passenger cars and private cars; knowledge of air brake systems.
- Performs locomotive daily inspection; troubleshoot and repair/replace parts as needed.
- Troubleshoots passenger cars, including toilet systems, air conditioning systems, doors, panels, lights, electrical systems and brake systems; performs necessary repairs.
- Completes regulatory, client, and company-required paperwork.
- Performs electrical tests and maintains batteries and electrical components on locomotives.
- Communicates written and/or verbal findings of inspections to Supervisor.
- Works overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call as required.
- Maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate dynamic train schedules.
- Works outdoors in inclement conditions; wears required protective equipment and prioritizes personal safety.
- Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, floors, seats, surfaces and trim; cleans passenger cars and restrooms and replenishes supplies.
- Transports trash and waste to disposal area; performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Trade school or formal railroad locomotive or diesel mechanical maintenance training required.
- Knowledge of locomotive mechanical or locomotive electrical systems or industrial heavy equipment experience required.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment (background/drug) screening process.
