The Contra Costa County Public Works Department (CCCPWD) is currently recruiting to fill multiple vacancies in the Public Works Custodian/Recycle Services Division. All interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.

The Custodian II is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of County-owned and leased buildings within CCCPWD. Custodian II staff perform a range of essential duties, including cleaning floors, restrooms, and offices, removing trash, and replenishing supplies.

The Contra County Public Works Department (CCPWD) is responsible for the maintenance and operation of over 650 miles of roads, 79 miles of streams and channels, and over 150 County buildings. CCCPWD services include parks and recreation, sandbag distribution, flood control, road and facilities maintenance, and storm water management. CCCPWD operates two airports, Buchanan Field Airport in Concord, and Byron Airport in Byron.

What you will typically be responsible for:
  • Cleaning office areas, stocking cleaning supplies, and taking out trash and organic recyclables
  • Arriving on time and ready to work as scheduled
  • Following Department and County policies and performing job duties as directed
  • Attending safety meetings and working safely
  • Communicating clearly and professionally with customers, custodial leads, supervisor, and manager
  • Completing routine inspection forms
  • Ordering cleaning supplies and maintaining custodial work area

License

Required:

Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's license. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.

Experience:

One (1) year of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience performing custodial maintenance in a commercial, industrial or public agency.

Background:

Must pass a background investigation.
