UC Riverside's Auxiliary Facilities Services is recruiting for the Senior Custodian. The full salary range is $25.00 - $28.89 per hour, with a realized minimum pay of $25 per hour. This recruitment may fill multiple positions with varying schedules. Positions may include shifts scheduled across all seven days of the week and throughout the day. Specific schedules will be discussed at the time of interview.

The Senior Custodian performs a variety of custodial tasks to care, maintain, disinfect, sanitize, and preserve campus facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning, dusting, stripping, waxing, sweeping, mopping, polishing, disinfecting, sanitizing, washing, vacuuming, replenishing restrooms, and removing refuse/recycling throughout campus facilities, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, offices, classrooms, laboratories, auditoriums, lounges, hallways, residential facilities, exteriors, etc. The custodian may work independently or as part of a team.

The custodian maintains a positive attitude and communicates effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty, and students.

Educational requirements:

• High School Diploma

Preferred qualifications:

• Knowledge and skill to use MS Office programs and email.
• Knowledge and ability to use desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and other electronic devices.
• Knowledge of UCR/UC policies, procedures and systems.
• Ability to read and understand the proper use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Basic knowledge of safe and proper procedures when hazardous materials are suspected; knowledge of safe and proper methods to clean up and dispose of biohazards and chemicals such as rodent droppings, vomit, blood, raw sewage or chemicals.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job, including SB-198 Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP).

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to work effectively; following through on assignments with minimal direction and fluctuating workload.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with co‑workers, supervisors, and the general public. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to safely use a wide variety of equipment and machinery common to custodial services, including, but not limited to, stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, wet/dry shop vacuums, carpet extractors, cleaning machines, floor‑cleaning machines, squeegees, brushes, etc.
• Willingness and ability to work scheduled, unscheduled, and emergency overtime.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule (weekends and holidays; early mornings, mornings, evenings, or graveyard shifts), as needed to accommodate campus event schedules.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and understand their interactions, danger signs and disposal methods.
• Knowledge, skill, and ability to apply and practice proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces including resilient tile, carpet, and terrazzo floors.
