Hotel Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) – Monterey, CA
ISC’s team of Hospitality Recruiters is partnering with a leading and highly ranked luxury property on a Director of Sales & Marketing (DOSM) opportunity in the sunny Monterey Peninsula. We are seeking an accomplished and visionary (Hotel) Director of Sales & Marketing, coming out of the luxury or upscale hotel space, who can adeptly lead all sales, marketing, and branding initiatives.
This dynamic role is responsible for developing and executing innovative short and long-term strategies to maximize revenue across all property outlets, including rooms, meetings/events, and F&B operations.
The ideal Director of Sales & Marketing candidate will bring proven Director-level leadership in both (luxury) hotel sales and marketing, a passion for driving impact and disrupting the status quo, a deep technical knowledge of channels/strategies, and the ability to position the property as a premier destination in its market.

Managing a team of 7 direct reports
- Develop and implement strategic marketing AND sales plans designed to drive revenue, strengthen brand positioning, and optimize profitability across all business segments
- Direct marketing, branding, and promotional efforts to ensure consistent market presence and high visibility across digital, social, and traditional channels
- Manage day-to-day department operations, including scheduling, recruiting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to determine pricing strategies that balance cost, competition, and demand
- Prepare and present accurate sales reports and marketing budgets, highlighting market share, direct sales results, and upcoming strategic initiatives
- Lead the group meetings and events (MICE) sales strategy to grow market share, build strong planner relationships, and position the resort as a preferred destination for corporate and incentive events
- Develop partnerships with key travel consortia, networks, and agencies to maximize leisure revenue and enhance visibility in target markets
- Drive proactive sales efforts, including client outreach, site visits, FAM trips, and participation in trade shows, to build lasting client relationships
- Leverage technology and analytics, including CRM systems, digital automation, and AI-driven insights to identify new business opportunities and track ROI across channels
- Collaborate with revenue management to align group and leisure sales with pricing strategies, distribution, and demand forecasts
- Oversee creation of compelling proposals, presentations, and offers tailored to client needs, ensuring a competitive edge in the marketplace
- Evaluate performance of sales and marketing initiatives and provide actionable insights to executive leadership for continuous improvement
- 7+ years’ Director-level leadership experience in luxury or high-end hotel/resort sales and marketing
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent education and experience)
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies/leading sales and marketing teams, deep technical knowledge of channels/strategies, and driving measurable results
- In-depth knowledge of MICE, leisure, and digital marketing best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a collaborative, team-oriented approach
- Proficiency in CRM and revenue management systems, as well as digital marketing platforms and analytics tools
